CBS News sucks - UPDATED

Here are some snippets of the sad example of "opinion journalism" I witnessed [Sunday] morning.

...the opinion of CBS News Sunday Morning Contributor Nancy Giles.

Rev. Jesse Jackson said: "Many black people feel that their race, their property conditions and their voting patterns have been a factor in the response [to Hurricane Katrina]." He continued: "I'm not saying that myself."

Then I'll say it.

If the majority of the hardest hit victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans were white people, they would not have gone for days without food and water, forcing many to steal for mere survival.

...Once again, he [President Bush] finds the photo op: Some black folks to hug, some white men in Mississippi to bond with. He flies over the messy parts of New Orleans, waves and leaves.

Subject: A disturbed viewer of Sunday Morning News

Flipping through the Sunday morning barrage of news programs I happen upon what seemed to be the closing comments of your CBS News Sunday Morning program. Only to be vomited upon by the venomous and bitter views of a woman towards the current administration and it’s alleged lack of compassion and disinterest in coming to the aid of the Katrina survivors. And ludicrously, went further to infer that this was because of a race issue…an unwillingness to help poor, black Americans.

It sickens me to hear such foolish banter and caustic remarks towards our president during a crisis such as this. Who decides this is worthwhile opinion and newsworthy? Your network’s continued disrespect for our governing administration and the hearts and minds of an already distressed America are without excuse.

You bring shame to journalism and to our country.
