When inspiration strikes

I've decide I won't feel guilty about breaking away from my work when I'm struck with a thought or the motivation to blog. So, here it is.

Cari and I have started participating in a married couples bible study, lead by Fred Herzog (pastor of Uptown Fellowship) and his wife Char. They're one of the coolest couples I know and we are honored to be mentored by them. Cari and I have been torn up by the discord we've been facing within our 'home' church and have been opening our eyes to other ministries within our community. Coming from a religious liberal church upbringing to no church to megachurch - Uptown fellowship has been a breath of fresh air. The congregation is small (appox. 40 people) but the messages are right on and the Spirit is evidently moving in their midst. I've felt more compelled to live-right while attending there, than I have for many years at an "easy to be anonymous" congregation.

Wherever you are regularly attending to hear preaching/teaching, I encourage you to seek out and discover what God is doing elsewhere. It was easy for me to think that God was only really moving in his fullness at my place of worship and unfortunately it has taken a calamity to open my eyes and question my own comfort and assumptions about God's will for my life.
